Welcome to our virtual Military Art gallery! Since 1990, Worlds of Wonder Art has represented some of the world's best illustrators in the sale of their original paintings - the kinds of wonderful images you've seen on books, magazines, games, and more. Now, we've created this special site to offer a distinctive, and very special genre of illustration art: paintings with AVIATION...MILITARY...WW2 themes. Planes, battleships, helicopters, tanks...whatever the subject matter, the art is notable for being amazingly detailed, realistic and exciting. And, no one does that better than British artist CHRIS MOORE . . . so we're launching the site in homage to his contributions to the genre. This is the first time his aviation and military illustrations have been made available for purchase - and we're delighted he's chosen Worlds of Wonder Art to make your purchase possible.
About Chris Moore
Like several other traditional (and popular!) literary genres of the 20th century (westerns, romance, historical adventure, gothics) Aviation and Military illustration is largely extinct: an artifact of 20th century book publishing. Fortunately - for lovers of the genre - we have Chris Moore's original paintings to remind us of how dynamic and exciting this kind of art can be! While Chris is adept with digital media - the preponderance of his career, for more than a quarter of a century - has been spent painting the cover art for almost every kind of book. Right after graduation from the Royal College of Art, 1972, he founded a design group and began working on a huge variety of projects. You would probably recognize one of the most successful of these: a "Star Wars" wallpaper design for "The Empire Strikes Back"...five million rolls were sold in the first week! Through the years, Moore's science fiction book illustrations have made him a favorite of collectors, and he's worked for most of the major publishers on both sides of the "pond" for the most well-known authors in each genre....and Aviation and Military art is no exception! Chris has been honored with industry awards, and his art has been featured in a number of art books, beginning 1988. His solo artbook "Journeyman: The Art of Chris Moore" was published in 1999 (Paper Tiger, UK).
